Dwayne Tyree is
the foreman at the LIT. Dwayne watches over all
aspects of ranch life and is responsible for the well being and care of the
cattle that graze on the ranch. His job redefines 24-7-365. Coping with
herd health, feed, weather, ranch maintenance, and other problems, make for
a full schedule.
Sorting is a task that allows similar cattle to be grouped together and ultimately means more consistent beef on your table. Each calf of the thousands that arrive each year at the LIT is important. Ear tags provide an individual number for each animal for traceback. Brands are placed on the lower leg to prevent pain to the animal and add value to the hide. Finally it is the stress free grazing on the ranch with individual attention to each animal that produces the quality beef that has been the hallmark of LIT ranching.
Information on each animal is entered into the ranch database where it can be retrieved from anywhere in the world. Each piece of information is used to manage the quality of beef and assure the consumer is buying a safe, high quality beef product. |
